For as long as I can remember, the Tena Valley in the Aragonese Pyrenees has been our family refuge, a place that has always welcomed us with its imposing nature and charm. In the middle of this valley, the Foratata mountain stands as a symbol and a constant reminder, a place that has deeply marked my childhood. In creating Arafita Apartments, I wanted to go beyond the familiar and connect with an ancient and magical history that would give a special meaning to the name of our company.

Arafita Apartamentos owes its name to Arafita, a humble and hard-working Aragonese goddess, whose name also represents a massif that is part of the Foratata mountain. According to legend, Arafita lived in the Tena Valley with her husband Anayet. Although they were the most humble gods of the mountain, they had the greatest of treasures: their daughter Culibillas, a young woman of unique beauty and kindness. Culibillas loved all the beings of the valley, especially the "formigas" (ants in Aragonese), they were white and covered the mountain slopes like a mantle. In honor of them, Culibillas decided to baptize the mountain as Formigal, the place where I grew up and where today we built Arafita Apartments.

Culibillas' peace was threatened when Balaitus, a powerful and feared god, fell in love with her and, when rejected, tried to kidnap her. Faced with danger, Culibillas invoked her friends, the formigas, who came to her defense and succeeded in driving Balaitus away. In gratitude, she kept the formigas in her heart, leaving an eternal mark on the mountain: the Forau de Peña Foratata, where, according to legend, the heartbeat of the goddess can still be felt.

Inspired by this story of humility, courage and connection with nature, we wanted to bring a bit of that ancestral essence to every corner of our apartments, providing a space where our guests can feel at home, in the middle of nature and in harmony with the environment.
